About Blaxland Veterinary Clinic

Blaxland Veterinary Clinic is a fully equipped small animal hospital established in 1988. The practice was started with the aim of providing high quality medical and surgical facilities for pets in the lower Blue Mountains and surrounding communities. Our clinic has been the winner of multiple local business awards and we have been runners up many times as well.

We offer a full range of services that include orthopaedic, soft tissue, surgery, digital radiology, ultrasound, dentistry, in house pathology and much more. Our clinic also provides services for the wildlife in the Blue Mountains area. We accept and treat injured wildlife such as possums and birds before we pass them on to Wires if they can be rehabilitated and released.

Our dedicated vet nurses run a puppy preschool every Thursday night which is very popular.  Click here to learn more about the services we provide. We also train TAFE veterinary nursing students and encourage them to reach their full potential in this exciting work environment.

Feel free to phone with an inquiry any time to speak to one of our friendly and experienced staff members.
The clinic also has on site parking with disability access.

Meet our team of veterinary professionals

dr Mark yostos

Veterinarian and Practice Owner

Mark graduated from Sydney University in 2010. Since then he has worked at a number of small animal practices and has spent the previous five years working in Penrith.

In 2017, Mark decided to take on the challenge of practice ownership. Mark has a special interest in internal medicine and surgery and prides himself on providing the best possible service to his patients and clients.

Outside of work Mark enjoys photography, spending time with his kids and two rescue cats - Sookie and Casper.

dr craig kelly

Veterinarian

Having graduated from Sydney University in 1992, Craig worked in Canberra and East Maitland before returning to the university to complete a small animal internship. He then worked in the UK for four years, returning to work at St Mary's until starting at Blaxland Veterinary Clinic in 2005.

Craig has also completed his memberships in small animal medicine and brings a wealth of knowledge to the practice.

Outside of work Craig enjoys sport and the Blue Mountains with his family.

DR JACQUI BOSS

Veterinarian

Jacqui is one of our vets here at Blaxland Vet Clinic. She completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2020.

She started with us in 2022 after beginning her career in mixed practice in the Hunter Valley. Having grown up in the region, Jacqui returned to the mountains after having her first baby to be closer to her people.

The variety of vet medicine is her favourite part of the job - working with creatures of all shapes and sizes, dealing with a mix of surgery, medicine, radiology, nutrition, dentals & behavior. Jacqui is really keen to be a very good generalist, and enable owners to support their pets to live their best life.

She’s got a 2 year old human & a 5 year old greyhound at home, plus a couple of senior chooks. Hobbies include desperately trying to keep her collection of indoor plants alive, cooking and going for the occasional bush walk or scuba dive (or fantasizing about the days where there is time to enjoy said hobbies).

Josephine

Receptionist

Jo started working as our receptionist in November 2019.

She has had an eclectic work history from fixing mobile phones, office admin at a heavy vehicle mechanic to early childhood education. Wherever she has landed it has always had a focus on customer service. But she has always had a desire to work with animals in some way.

Joining the team at Blaxland Vet has meant she has been able to work with in her passions for animals and customer service.

On the weekends you will find her walking her German Shepherd’s Freyja and Baldr or relaxing with her husband playing video games or reading.

erin

Veterinary Nurse

Raised on an acreage in Castlereagh, Erin grew up always having pets of some description, small and large. She had great communication, love and understanding with her pets.

After finishing high school she got part time work at Emu Plains whilst studying Veterinary Nursing at Richmond TAFE. She had a break from nursing after completing her studies, but found she missed animals and the fast paced, challenging work environment.

Over the years working at Blaxland, Erin started a family of her own with a lovely man Todd; resulting in two beautiful children, Lorelei and Seth, who also love and understand animals. She loves living in the mountains and enjoys the lifestyle it brings.

TAYLOR

Veterinary Nurse

Having grown up in the Blue Mountains, Taylor has always been surrounded by animals and nature.

She started her veterinary nursing studies in 2016 here at Blaxland Veterinary Clinic. During that time she did work placement and volunteer work at Taronga Zoo, where her knowledge for wildlife nursing grew into a passion. Soon after, she became a WIRES member and has since hand-reared numerous native birds which provided them with a second chance at life.

She has since had various experiences at different workplaces over the years and decided to rejoin us at Blaxland in 2022.

In her spare time you will find Taylor getting crafty - making macrame pieces, painting, cooking and tending to her house plants and veggies patch. She loves to bushwalk, camp and cuddle her rescue cat Neytiri. She’ll always be drawn to mother nature and the animals that come with her.

STEPHANIE

Veterinary Nurse

Stephanie initially started her studies in business in 2017 before she found her calling with animals. She has always loved animals and felt connected and fulfilled in a capacity to help and interact with them.

Stephanie spent 4 years in the country in Glen Innes as a veterinary nurse before joining us in 2022. She was drawn to the Blue Mountains to be closer to friends and she enjoys the relaxed country feel.

In her spare time, you will find Steph reading, writing, hiking and lazing around with her Aussie Shepherd Dax and two cats Finley and Garth.
